She is an Indian film and television actress.She was born on 12 September, 1988. She is the endorser, spokesperson, brand ambassador and the face of Neutrogena products in India. She starred her television career in the serial Kasamh Se on Zee TV.On September 2007, Desai entered in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as contestant and was eliminated on November 2007. However, she entered again via the wild-card entry on November 2007 and was declared as winner of the show on December 2007. Desai's first film was Rock On!! (2008), where she played the wife of Farhan Akhtar.Desai had to leave Kasamh Se to act in Rock On.Her next film was Life Partner (2009). In July 2010, she appeared in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai with Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi.

Thereafter, she appeared in a dance reality show called Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa along with choreographer Deepak Singh. Despite getting eliminated in the initial stages, she returned as a wild card entry and eventually went on to win the show. She also headed a team of young dancers in another dance show ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, but was eliminated soon.The bubbly actress then made a transition to the film industry in 2008. She debuted in Abhishek Kapoor-directed ‘Rock On!!’ opposite Farhan Akhtar. Although the film was not a major box office earner, her performance was much acclaimed and appreciated by critics and audiences alike. The film won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, and Prachi won awards for the best debut. Her next film Life Partner, opposite Tusshar Kapoor, was a failure.
In 2010, she bounced back with Milan Luthria’s film ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ along with Emraan Hashmi, Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut. She delivered a splendid performance which is why she grabbed the Best Supporting Actress awards and nominations at many award functions like IIFA Awards, Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards, Stardust Awards, Zee Cine Awards and Star Screen Awards.Because of her impressive performance, filmmaker Kunal Kohli cast her in a cameo role in his film ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’. Although the role was small, Prachi received much recognition for it. This was followed by Rohit Shetty’s film Bol Bachchan, starring Ajay Devgn opposite Asin and Prachi opposite Abhishek Bachchan.
